Breaking Golf Course Records: A Live Challenge at Toy Pines

Welcome back, golf fans! Today, we’re taking on the challenge of breaking golf course records, live and unfiltered, here at Toy Pines. It’s a special day as we’re filming a long-form YouTube video, bringing you along for the ride. With a broken wrist and a split on my hand, things are about to get interesting!

So, to kick things off, let’s dive into the course. We’re at the South Course today, where the legendary Tiger Woods shot a 62. It’s a beast of a course, but we’re up for it. Let’s see how we can handle this!

Warm-Up and Breaking In

I’ve got a little splint on, but that’s not stopping me from getting a few swings in. It’s been tough, but hey, it’s all about the challenge! I’ve managed to hit a driver, and the wrist still clicks a little, but it’s good to see that I can still get some distance. My swing isn’t quite what it used to be, but we’re working through it.

I’m hitting a lower 54-degree wedge, aiming for a bit of a cut. First shot goes left, but it’s all good – at least it was the right number. I’ve got to work on closing that club face a little.

The Challenges Continue

As we move through the course, we hit a few more tricky shots. The simulator is not forgiving, and the rough is always a bit unpredictable. But that’s golf for you – one moment you feel like you’re on top of the world, and the next, you’re trying to figure out how to get out of trouble.

A little bit of a fade on my next shot, and I nearly nail it! But, unfortunately, we didn’t make it to the green this time. The next putt is a challenge as well, but I manage to sink a birdie. A little too much drama in the process, but we got there.

Simulator Setbacks and Triumphs

Moving on to the next hole, we’re still working through the simulator settings and adjusting to the quirks. But as we all know, it’s not about how many times you get it wrong, but how you keep pushing forward. With a few adjustments, I’m starting to feel more comfortable. A couple of great shots and a near-perfect birdie putt later, we’re making some real progress.

The simulator has a way of showing you the true distance and flight path of your shots, and even though the screen isn’t perfect, it helps refine my approach. The flight scope helps measure every shot, even those that end up just outside the flag.

Wrapping Up the Challenge

By the end of the round, we’re still aiming for that elusive 9-under score to beat Tiger’s legendary performance. We’re getting closer to the mark, but it’s clear that today’s challenge is more than just about the score. It’s about pushing through adversity, keeping a positive mindset, and learning from each shot.

The final few moments are full of laughs, missed opportunities, and a lot of camaraderie. It’s not easy, but that’s what makes golf so rewarding. We didn’t break the course record today, but we sure had a blast trying. Plus, it’s always a good time when you’ve got a great group of people to share the experience with.

The Takeaways

To wrap up, here are some key takeaways from today’s session:

  1. Never let a broken wrist or a splint get in the way of playing.
  2. Consistency is key, even if the simulator doesn’t always cooperate.
  3. Keep your head in the game and don’t let bad shots throw you off.
  4. Golf is a mental game as much as it is physical – a positive mindset goes a long way.
  5. Lastly, always enjoy the challenge, no matter the outcome.
